Blog » Lovely Lamb this Easter

Traditionally, roast lamb is eaten during the Easter period - and at Battens Farm it is no different.

Working alongside two of our sheep farmers - the Dodgson family and Stuart and Jenny Clatworthy, our Easter meat boxes include a high quality lamb joint for roasting from some of the best flocks of sheep in Somerset.

Stuart Clatworthy's flock of Dutch Texels extensively graze the family farm on the Somerset Levels.

"In my opinion there is no better place to farm. The sheep do fantastically well off the lush grass here on the Somerset Levels, resulting in consistently high quality carcases suitable for the meat boxes which Battens Farm put together." - Stuart Clatworthy

And near Stougursey, the Dodgson family have been farming the same lamb for several generations, running their flock of sheep with minimal interferece.

"Quiet sheep are happy sheep. I can drive through everyday and check them all without disturbing them. One of the reasons we work with Battens Farm is because they have their own abattoir and pay high attention to detail looking after our animals prior to slaughter. Our mantra is that our sheep should have stress free living at all stages of their lives." - Miss Dodgson

Why not treat your friends and family to one of our two Easter meat boxes this year, which include a leg of lamb joint from Stuart Clatworthy or the Dodgson family and a free range chicken from Stuart Perkins near Radstock.
